Attendance System
The purpose of our attendance system is to allow students to sign into class using their school ID cards. This will reduce the amount of work the teacher needs to do as well as make attendance take less time to gather.
How it works
The teacher opens this excel file at the beginning of the period. The teacher clicks the cell E2 so the cursor is in cell E2. A barcode scanner is plugged into the computer by USB port. As students enter the classroom, they scan their ID cards with the barcode scanner. Their student ID numbers will be entered into column E as they scan in. The list of information of the students who sign in will be shown in columns C-E in the order they signed in. The teacher can then hit the Sort button in cell E1 and the information will be rearranged so it is in the same order as the data in columns J-L. In column G, the time is entered in hh:mm form whenever some one scans in. When students are done signing into class, the teacher can look at column I to see who is absent or present. Column F will show if a student is on-time or late. When the teacher is done, he/she can hit the clear button in cell F1 and the spread sheet will be reset for use another day.
The attendance system excel document is available for download above.
